   Indian Vegetarian Recipes - Salads
 
 
 
  Cabbage Koshumbir  
  (Cabbage salad dressed in lime juice, topped with capsicum, mustard seeds and curry leaves)  
 
INGERIDENTS
Cabbage (grated) 1/4 Kg
Fresh coconut (grated) 1/4
Capsicum (chopped) 1/4
Oil 2 tblspn
Green chillies (finely chopped) 1/2
Lime juice one lime
Mustard seeds a pinch
Curry leaves 8-10
Sugar 1/2 tspn
Asafoetida 1 pinch
Salt to taste
 
Cabbage Koshumbir, Cabbage salad dressed in lime juice, topped with capsicum, mustard seeds and curry leaves
 
  METHOD  
 
STEP 1: Mix the grated cabbage, coconut and green chilli.
STEP 2: Make a dressing by mixing the lime juice, sugar and a pinch of salt. Pour this dressing over the cabbage mixture covering it evenly. Mix well.
STEP 3: In a ladle heat the oil, add the mustard seeds and when they crackle add the curry leaves. Remove from the heat after 30 seconds and pour over the cabbage mix.
STEP 4: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped capsicum and coconut.
