  Dal Chawal With Potato Salad  
 
INGERIDENTS
For Dal:-  
Chana dal 1/2 Cup
Black gram dal (spilt) 1/2 Cup
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Garam masala 1/2 tsp
Ginger (chopped) 1 piece
Green chillies (chopped) 2
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Pure ghee 1 tbsp
For Garnishing:  
Coriander leaves
For Chawal:  
Uncooked Basmati rice 1-1/2 Cups
Water 3 Cups
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Peppercorns 6-7
Black Cardamom 1
Sugar 1/2 tsp
Bay leave 1
Cloves 2
Salt to taste
Ghee 1 tbsp
For Potato Salad:  
Medium sized potatoes (boiled or baked) 5
Chaat Masala 1 tsp
Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds powder 1/2 tsp
Green chilli (chopped) 1
Salt and pepper to taste
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) 1 tbsp
Lemon juice 1
 
 
  METHOD  
  For Dal:-  
 
Mix and wash both the dals. Cook in a pressure cooker along with 3 cups of water, salt, ginger, green chillies and turmeric powder. When soft, mix well. Heat ghee in a frying pan. Add all ingredients for seasoning. As soon as they crackle, pop into the. Transfer into a serv ing bowl. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with chawal.
For Chawal:-
Soak rice for 30 minutes in water. Heat oil in a pan, fry all the spices for a minute. Add rice along with water. Cover and cook on a low flame till all water evaporates and rice is done. Serve hot with dal.
For Potato Salad:-
Peel and chop potatoes into bite size pieces. Place them in a large bowl. Sprinkle all masalas, salt, green chillies, coriander leaves and lemon juice over it, mix well and serve cold along with dal chawal.
